gut health recipes Nov 24, 2020

The holiday season is upon us!  Bring on the gut rot and belly bloat!

I know, “This year will be different.”

Either way, I’m guessing come January 1st you’ll need a full body reset. #beenthere

As promised, in the next few weeks I plan to deliver my favorite holiday tips, tricks and hacks to having a holiday season that’s not filled with multiple trips to the bathroom, pockets full of Tylenol & Tums, or wearing out your favorite pair of stretchy pants.

This week's favorite tip is Enjoy the Rare Stuff! Why waste stomach pain on a roll or mash potatoes? You can be in pain with those foods any day. (Keeping it real here.)

Go for the Kulula Sweet Potato Casserole! Yes that’s right, I said go for the Kulula Sweet Potato Casserole! And if you go all in with a few glasses of wine and maybe a cranberry jello shot don’t forget to take your activated charcoal! This will help bind the alcohol and unwanted food toxins out of the body. I’m loving the quality of the Amy Myers brand. Use the TAKE20 code at checkout for a 20% off discount-> CHARCOAL

If you’re feeling guilty about the Kulua Sweet Potato Casserole, serve it up with a side of Acorn Squash with Walnuts & Cranberry which includes gut friendly ingredients like coconut oil, maple syrup, and ginger.

Acorn Squash with Walnuts & Cranberry

Ingredients

1 Acorn Squash, cut in half

½ cup walnuts, roughly chopped

½ cup cranberries, frozen or fresh

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp ground ginger

2 tablespoons coconut oil

Himalayan salt

Heat oven to 400F.

Combine walnuts, cranberries, maple syrup, cinnamon, and ginger. Toss to combine.

Cut each acorn squash in half. Remove and discard seeds. Split the mixture between two halves of the squash. Top each half with 1 tablespoon coconut place in a glass baking dish, cover with foil and bake for 1 hour or until squash is tender.

To bring out the sweetness top with himalayan salt.

Food regulates metabolism and creates building blocks for healthy hormones. Don’t cheat yourself by consuming crap. Eat well, live well, and follow your gut.

Be Gutsy as a Mother,
